When I was little, my locks were curly and crazy, so my mom used to make me wear headbands to school. "You let your hair down when you play, but you have to look nice and tidy at school."
Of course, I grew up with an undoubted belief that headbands = little miss goodie two shoes.
Or sometimes, annoying little miss snow white. (Yes, I hate her guts)
C'mon, look at her lame smile and goofy expression!
Anyways, long story short, I hated their guts. And once I grew out of my mother's authority in picking what to wear, I expressed my utter hate for headbands; the only headband I owned from age 14 to 27 was the one I wear when I'm washing my face or applying make-up.
And in the past couple of years, the forehead-band trend was seen right left and center, and honestly, I thought it was rediculous. Unless you're a die hard hippie, it's just gonna look wrong. It wasn't helping my deep-rooted complex!
So.. no, not so much.
But recently, and after years of failed trials, I started looking at
headbands in a different light. An artsy girlfriend would wear a
colorful headband once - ON her head - and I think "she looks awesome".. Or I see a simple piece paired with a red carpet gown and I get myself to
breathe in a paper bag, telling myself that "They must know better than
me. It's okay."
I had to break the habit, and acquire a new one! So I gradually forced myself to be seen in public with a headband every now and then. Reminding myself that "it's okay..." - especially on hot days where I don't feel like having my bangs even remotely touch my forehead.
Then today, while looking at pictures of the Golden Globes, I noticed that the headband thing is more than just "okay".. It's a growing trend - getting even bigger than last year. It's even getting dressy, sparkly and sexy!
To the left, we see Busy Phillips sporting a thin, shiny silver headband that effortlessly held her 'do together with an elegant twist, perfectly complementing her angelic make-up and dress.
In the middle, Michelle Williams ventured a thick band with a glittery accessory. Playful, just like her pixie haircut. Classic, just like her dress.
To the right, the beautiful Charlize Theron sexed up her blonde locks with an all-glittery, rich, diamond-shiny arch. With a tiny earring and no neck piece, the band made an awesome main accessory!
Pretty, huh?
I agree. I think.

Hi, Halter!
So as I was checking some fluff, looking at this weekend's red carpet photos, I noticed a trend that's been out there for months - only this time it was in more than one picture in a row; The Halter Dress.
Now every time I think "halter dress" I think "Marilyn Monroe getting her dress blwon away in the oh so famous scene of - whatever"
But basically, I like the fact that its one of the few dresses that can actually look stylish with no cleavage involved (and no risk of slipping off either.)
In 2011, the halter dress resurfaced somewhere along the spring, and easing into 2012, it seems to be only getting stronger, spotted on stars like Camilla Belle..
Mind the pale make-up there O_O
Kristen Stweart...
Emily Blunt...
Zoe Saldana...
Black makes her look even skinnier, don't you think?
... And regardless of how fugly she looks here, Angelina Jolie just this past weekend...
And as far as runways are concerned, halter dresses are in the mix for 2012.
Valentino showed this pretty princessy gown with a full neck halter cut, (well, in an (icky) green shade but whatever..) in the SS 2012 collection.
Victoria Beckham included these interesting halter cuts in her SS 2012 show...
Elie Saab also had something halter to say with this angelic design, mixing the halter trend with the thigh-high slit..
Very flowy, I just love it!
While Gucci painted this halter design black...
With that said, I think its time I go get myself one of these!
Over and out

Trend Alert: Because I Said So!
Now this is one of my favorite movies of all time - I know, cheese, but whatever. Mandy Moore is gorgeous, and the way she acts is so enchanting! (enchanting, ewh!) And how she screams "In a dress my mother made meee buuuy!" just makes me tear up every single time! If you're a fan of the movie, you'll get what I mean.
But what does this have to do with anything?... Look at the picture again.. yeah.. THE DRESS. The polka dot dress that her mother made her buy.
Polka dots.
I was never a fan of polka dots - at all. And in that movie I even hated them, because they represented everything that was wrong with parenting, but that's another story.
Somehow though, that dress looked phenominal on her!
Hair up at work, or down on her date.. It was a killer.
Polka dots are HUGE this season. Well, actually, they started being huge in the summer, and dragged onto perky winter attires... And they come in all shapes and styles!
Emma Stone was seen sportig this pretty contemporary number in black and white at The Help movie premiere in London back in October 2011..
Shiny and drapey; perfect for an evening occasion.
While the trend was also spotted on the runway of Lanvin for the Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection, also in the classy contrast of black and white. Note that the design also featured the asymmetrical trend, portrayed in the single sleeve cut. It's a win-win piece!
Actress Mila Kunis was spotted in London, promoting her movie “Friends With Benefits” wearing an Oscar de la Renta polka dot dress from the Resort 2012 collection..
Moving on to another Mila, at the 2012 Campari Calendar launch event, Mila Jovovich posed in this colorful combination; a sheer red and white polka dot blouse, paired with a blue and white polka dot skirt, both by Prada.
So I guess I've made my point, eh?.. It's time to own a polka dotted item now, because I said so!
